Incentive Overview
The Targeted Surgical Specialty Recruitment and Retention Incentive supports specialist Urologists and Otolaryngologists who establish full-time practice in Regina. Effective July 1, 2025, the program provides financial incentives over a five-year period to help recruit and retain surgical specialists in these high-demand fields.
Key eligibility requirements:
- Began full-time Urology or Otolaryngology practice in Regina on or after July 1, 2025.
- Be new to practice in Saskatchewan.
- Hold an active licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan and be a Member of Practitioner Staff in good standing with the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
- Provide at least 220 service days annually and maintain practice for at least 10 months of each service year.
- Remain in an eligible community throughout the five-year incentive period.
The program is available to specialist Urologists and Otolaryngologists providing full-time hospital-based or community-based services in Regina. Incentive payments are provided after each completed year of service, with eligible physicians able to receive up to $200,000 over five years. Physicians must apply annually, and eligibility is assessed each year.
